If you had to pick five objects to represent your life journey, story, and dream, what would you pick?
See how only a few items can help to tell the numerous stories of some fascinating individuals you could meet at our Hope Talk series at TAIWANfest as we return to Vancouver this September 3 to 5 alongside our friends from Indonesia and Malaysia to hear, taste, and see the Stories of Independence that lie behind the music, food, and the arts.
In The Things that Language and Dialogue Taught Me, hear about a Taiwanese woman’s journeys through the Arab world and her work to help people understand other cultures—through the lens of a hijab and old bus tickets. Find out how one Taiwanese man is transforming an old Dutch colonial heritage site into a centre for empowering the local community in an Indonesian city in Taiwanese Social Activism in Indonesia. Follow the journey of a journalist and lecturer at Homewards whose fascinating background and current work explores the history and interconnections of culture and ethnicity across east and southeast Asia. Even more captivating stories await!
