Day of Play

The Day of Play is a special day when we celebrate all opportunities for play in our Burnaby parks and showcase all the great park improvements we’ve made in the last year. Join us to celebrate at Willingdon Heights Park on June 27 between 11 am and 4 pm, where we'll be officially opening the two new basketball courts and an amazing new court mural.

Mechanics of Music Fest

Mechanics of Music fest is a joyful community music festival where students, teachers, local performers, families, and music lovers come together for an unforgettable day at Westminster Pier Park. Presented by Rock the Block Society. This year’s event will also feature a local vendor and sponsor market, and our infamous Instrument Petting Zoo, where you can come out to try different instruments. Music is for everyone!

Free Gardening Workshops

The Lansdowne Food Garden is back for 2026. Every tomato, herb, and harvest grown in the garden is donated directly to the local community and food bank — because good food belongs on every table. Want to get your hands dirty for a good cause? Join free gardening workshops every Thursday from May to October, 3:30–4:30 pm. Victory Gardens experts will show you how to grow, harvest, and care for your own garden. No experience needed. Just show up.

Golden Spike Days

The Golden Spike Days Festival is one of the oldest and longest-running family events in BC and is proud to have been named to The Tri-City News’ A-List as ‘Favorite Community Event,’ multiple years running. The festival is held at Rocky Point Park around Canada Day, attracting upwards of 40,000 people of all walks of life with live entertainment, special events, and activities for all ages. Our event commemorates the construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway line and its arrival at the original western terminus in Port Moody where the LAST SPIKE was driven.
