Soil Superheroes

Beneath our feet, a league of superheroes is hard at work making life on Earth possible. Discover the hidden world of soil science and conservation in Soil Superheroes, a fun and interactive exhibition on loan from the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, part of Ingenium Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation. This exhibit raises awareness of soil health and sustainability, critical issues that directly impact food security, climate resilience, human health, and the overall quality of life for Canadians.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Explore the underground world where soil organisms work every day to grow our food, clean our water, and protect our climate. Meet the exhibition’s mighty heroes, including Captain Clay, The Mole, and Wonder Worm, and discover how their “superpowers” help keep our ecosystems healthy and thriving.

Through playful storytelling, colourful characters, and hands-on activities, visitors of all ages will uncover the answers to big questions like: What is soil? Why is it important? Along the way, you’ll learn how everyday human actions from farming practices to what we buy, reuse, and recycle, can affect soil health around the world.

Developed in partnership with leading soil and agriculture experts, Soil Superheroes encourages curiosity, environmental stewardship, and a deeper appreciation for the natural systems that support life on our planet.
