Old Threads, New Stitches: Upcycling Exhibit Opening

*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 11/08/2025
We are happy to introduce our Senior in Residence for the winter season Mei Choi who will be presenting a month-long exhibit at Mackin House centered around both the technical aspects of upcycling clothing as well as the stories behind turning old pieces into something new.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Featuring a selection of Mei Choi's creations, this exhibit invites guests to come and interact with each item by trying things on and accessing the sewing patterns for each piece.

Mei Choi is a self-taught textile artist born in Hong Kong and currently residing in Coquitlam. Her art weaves the mediums of sewing, upcycling, altering, thrifting, and storytelling. Her practice is mainly centered on two principles: creativity and practicality; with her projects exploring the resourcefulness, adaptability, and appreciation of community-oriented life – while at the same time creating something tangible, functional, and useful.

Free. No Registration Required.

Mei will also be holding open studio hours and a workshop at Mackin House throughout November.
