Let’s talk about music and language! Jade Music Fest presents panels and workshops for emerging artists, industry insiders, and music lovers.
How do underrepresented artists find opportunities in Canadian music festivals? JMF invites directors from four west coast music festivals (Vancouver Island Music Festival, Vancouver Folk Music Festival, Mission Folk Music Festival, Harrison Festival of the Arts) to chat about the relationship between artists and live music events in Canada.
What’s it like touring Asia as a Canadian artist? In April, a group of Canadian artists joined the first edition of JMF in Asia. They will share their experiences performing abroad and overcoming language barriers.
Independent curator Dr. Szu-Wei Chen from Taiwan takes us through the history of Chinese-languages and its relationship with today’s music creation. Asian Canadian artists handwash, AIKO TOMI, Daniel Lew, and Eunice Keitan will give interactive artist talks on their journey of self-identity through their music careers.
