Day of Play
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
This free, family-friendly day of fun will feature:
- youth basketball camps and tournaments on the new courts, led by Buckets & Borders
- free Rocky Point Ice Cream cones, while supplies last
- games and recreation activities, music, food trucks and more
- art activity led by Burnaby-based artist Keerat Kaur
- park wading pool open for kids
The design of the new court mural was led by Burnaby Public Art Roster artist Angie Quintanilla Coates alongside Burnaby youth.
The Day of Play was made possible through our Park Pulse program, via funding from the CMHC and the Government of Canada.
Celebrating you
In the last year, our residents helped share the future of fun in our community with their engagement and feedback on Making Life Better: the Parks, Recreation and Culture Plan, a 25-year plan that will guide key decisions on delivering core services and planning new facilities and infrastructure. We want to say thank you for sharing your time and enthusiasm with us and our community!
Traffic pattern changes
On June 27, we'll be implementing some traffic changes around Willingdon Heights Park and Willingdon Community Centre to keep the event safe and easy for the neighbourhood to walk, roll or bike to:
- The lane from Kitchener Ave., south to the Willingdon Community Centre parking lot will be closed
- There will be no stopping on Gilmore Ave. between Kitchener St. and Grant St.
