Be a part of an exciting temporary public art work! Great for families & adults alike.
Rising Tides is an interactive temporary public art project inviting us to consider how rising sea levels affect our community. A dome constructed from woven willow represents the concepts of 'home' or 'sanctuary' & is surrounded by vertical panels representing rising sea levels, created by artists Dolores Altin & Elvira Monteforte.
In this workshop participants will create art expressions from natural materials & found objects to adorn the panels that surround the willow dome.
Learn basic weaving techniques & how to work with materials such as willow, branches & sea grass to create art & express your thoughts on our environment.
While making the art we will discuss the causes & solutions for climate change including mitigating CO2 emissions & how to adapt to rising water levels.
Once attached to the panels, these art expressions will elevate the Rising Tides installation - sharing our thoughts, hopes & solutions with everyone who passes by.
Workshop will be outside in John Lawson Park, next to the Silk Purse Arts Centre, so dress appropriately.
