Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival

Bard on the Beach is Western Canada’s largest not-for-profit, professional Shakespeare Festival. Presented in Vancouver’s Sen̓ákw/Vanier Park against a backdrop of mountains, sea, and sky, the Festival offers Shakespeare plays and related dramas from June through September. Bard Education offers programs throughout the year for our community to play and explore Shakespeare, including Summer Camps and Bard Youth Fest!

During the Season, Bard welcomes our community to come play at the Festival site through programs such as our Summer Camps, with week-long sessions for 6 to 10, 10 to 14, 8 to 13, and 13 to 18. In these camps, participants explore an abridged Shakespeare play which they share with family and friends on the final day. There will be an emphasis on ensemble building, creative expression, collaboration, and play. Camps are led by professional theatre artists, who are actors, directors, playrights, choreographers and more, and they are all passionate about sharing their craft with young people.

Bard Youth Fest runs during the school year, with a fall and spring series. Participating troupes are based out of schools, community centres, and our own rehearsal studios.
